Hetta Community
Hetta Community started with a simple idea – that slowing down, getting outside and spending time with other people makes us feel better.
The sauna is part of that. But increasingly, Hetta is about the community that's growing around it.
It's about recognising faces. Turning up on your own and finding someone to talk to. Getting outside when you might otherwise have stayed at home. Moving your body without measuring it. Dipping in the sea without needing to be a cold-water swimmer. Sitting around a fire with a coffee or a drink and nowhere else you particularly need to be.
We want Hetta to be somewhere you can come without needing an occasion, a group of friends or even a sauna booking.
So we're creating a growing programme of Hetta Community events – simple, social gatherings where everyone is welcome. Come on your own. Bring a pal, ring somene else who needs this. Just come along.
All of our these events are in the Hetta Community section at the bottom of the page.
Hetta Dip Club
Hetta Dip Club isn’t a swimming club. There are no distances to cover, no pace to keep and absolutely no pressure to get your head under.
It’s simply about getting outside, getting into the sea and doing something that makes you feel good — together.
We’ll meet at Sauna Hetta before heading down to the beach for a slow, social dip in the North Sea. Stay in for ten seconds or ten minutes; paddle, dip, dunk or just come along for the company. You do it your way.
Afterwards, warm up with an optional wood-fired sauna at Hetta, then we’ll gather for coffee, a chat and a bit of Sunday-morning craic.
Come alone, bring a friend, throw on your dry robe and join us.
Dip Club is free to attend but booking is required. Optional Hetta sauna: £15 per person.
You’ll need to book your free Dip Club place in advance and agree to our cold-water safety information and waiver before joining us.
Hetta Slow Run Club
Hetta Slow Run Club is for anyone who’d like to start running, get back into it, or simply move a little more – without worrying about pace, distance or keeping up.
Think less running club, more Sunday morning movement with good people.
We’ll follow a gentle Couch to 5K-style approach, mixing walking and running and gradually building towards a relaxed 5K. You don’t need to be fit, fast or even particularly convinced that you’re a runner. Come exactly as you are. There will always be someone at the back to keep the last runner company (we have plenty of volunteers in the team for this role!).
We meet on Sunday mornings at The Barn on The Bay before heading out together along our beautiful stretch of the Northumberland coast. Dogs are welcome too.
Afterwards, stick around for coffee, a chat and, if you fancy it, an optional sauna (please book this seperately).
Run Club is free to join, but please register before coming along so we know who to expect.
Come alone or bring a friend. Walk when you need to. Run when you want to.
Hetta Book Club
Diane’s Book Club is less about literary analysis and more about a good book bringing people together.
For our first few gatherings, Sauna Host, Diane, will be choosing books by local authors – stories and voices with a connection to Northumberland and the North East. Read the book beforehand, then join us in Sauna Hetta where our book club discussion happens somewhere a little different!
We’ll talk about what we loved, what we didn’t, the bits that stayed with us and all the conversations the book sparks along the way. There are no clever critiques required, no questions to prepare and absolutely no telling off if you didn’t quite make it to the final chapter.
After the sauna, we’ll head to the verandah for tea, cake and more chatting.
Come alone or bring a friend. Whether you read every page, listened to the audiobook or only got halfway through, you’re very welcome.
