Winter Sauna Sessions at The Barn on The Bay

Over the winter months, Sauna Hetta is based on the covered verandah at The Barn on The Bay, offering a calm and cosy space to enjoy the heat while still feeling close to the elements. Our wood-fired sauna provides the perfect escape on crisp coastal days, whether you're joining others in a communal session or booking the whole space for yourselves.

Guests are welcome to arrive up to 30 minutes before their session to park and take a refreshing dip at the nearby beach. Many people choose to start their visit with a sea swim before stepping into the warmth of the sauna. For those who prefer to cool off closer to home, we also have cold plunge baths on the verandah, sheltered and ready for use throughout your session.

Communal Sauna Sessions — £15 per person

Our communal sessions are relaxed, friendly and open to individuals or small groups. They’re a great way to experience the sauna at an accessible price while sharing the space with others who enjoy the ritual of heat and cold therapy. Each session lasts one hour, with the option to combine sea dipping, sauna rounds and cold plunging as you wish.

Private Sauna Sessions — £90 for up to 6 people

For those who prefer the sauna to themselves, we offer private one-hour sessions for groups of up to six. This is an ideal option for friends, couples, families or anyone looking for a more personal, uninterrupted experience. Enjoy the warmth, the cold plunges and the setting at your own pace.

Whether you join us communally or privately, our winter sauna sessions offer a restorative break on the Northumberland coast—simple, invigorating and designed for everyone who loves the balance of heat, cold and big open skies.

Sauna Hetta has moved to a new home for the winter season. You will now find us just across the road from our beachside location, outside Calico Barn at The Barn on The Bay. This cosy and sheltered setting allows us to offer an enhanced experience during the colder months, with extended sessions and new features designed to help you relax, restore and embrace the benefits of heat and cold therapy.

Throughout winter, all sessions will now run for two hours, giving guests more time to unwind and enjoy the rhythm of sauna, rest and repeat. Between rounds, guests are welcome to use the beautiful Calico Barn as a warm, comfortable space to relax with a drink in front of the fire. Hot drinks are included in every booking, and there is a fully stocked bar available for those who would like to enjoy an alcoholic drink after their sauna. Complimentary snacks are provided, and outside you’ll find firepits for toasting marshmallows and gathering with friends.

New this season, we have introduced two ice baths for cold plunging, along with an outdoor cold shower for those who prefer a refreshing rinse between sauna rounds.

Sauna Hetta’s winter setup is designed to offer a deeper, slower and more restorative experience, and we look forward to welcoming you to our new location.

Festive Fire Sessions

Winter sessions are priced at £45 per person. As an introductory offer, guests can receive £5 off any session before Christmas Day by entering the code COLDPLUNGE at checkout. Standard group sessions accommodate up to six people, while private group bookings can welcome up to twelve, with a maximum of eight people in the sauna at any one time (please contact us to add more than 6 people).
