Introducing our Sauna & Stay experience — the perfect way to combine coastal calm, shared time with friends or family, and the full warmth of Sauna Hetta’s wood-fired ritual.

Calico Barn, located at Hemscott Hill and sleeping up to 16 people, is fully self-contained accommodation designed for relaxed, comfortable group gatherings. The barn features a large, well-equipped kitchen, cosy living space, 16 adult-sized bunk beds across five bedrooms, and three self-contained bathrooms, giving everyone plenty of space. We can also provide breakfast, lunch and/or dinner catering for groups, making your stay effortless from start to finish.

To elevate your getaway, you can add an exclusive Sauna Hetta experience, set up directly outside the barn for your private use (October to April only).

We’ll prepare the full sauna environment for you:
• Wood-fired barrel sauna
• Fire pit and outdoor seating
• Ice baths and cold shower
• Festoon lighting and a cosy place to gather

Use the sauna as often as you like during your stay—whether it’s a sunrise heat, a post-walk warm-up or an evening wind-down under the stars*.

This experience is ideal for hen weekends, celebrations, wellness retreats, swimming groups, and team getaways. Hen groups can also choose to add our Sauna & Spa experience, featuring a curated menu of natural cleansing products, clay masks, balms and spritzes for a deeper, more indulgent ritual.

With Druridge Bay just across the road for sea dips and a lake at Druridge Bay Country Park a short drive or cycle away for freshwater swimming, it’s the perfect location for groups who love the outdoors, the coast and the heat–cold ritual.

Sauna & Stay is available from October to April only as we host weddings at The Barn on The Bay during the summer months and we move the sauna away from Calico Barn, but during the summer months you can take advantage of our Camp Sauna experience.

*We provide 3 large sacks of wood with kindling and firelighters to use how you want - in the sauna, on the firepit etc. Additional wood can be purchased on site for a small fee.
